Zharnel Hughes joins Runner’s World Podcast

Refresh Sports client Zharnel Hughes has reflected on his successful summer of athletics in a wide-ranging appearance on the Runner’s World Podcast, hosted by Rick Pearson and Ben Hobson.

Zharnel discussed his preparations for a summer of major championship competition and the work he put into keeping his body in the best possible condition ahead of the European Championships. He also highlighted the importance of staying hydrated throughout the season with Vita Coco, his hydration partner.

The British sprint star went on to reflect on a hugely successful European Championships campaign, where he won gold in both the men’s and mixed 4x100m relays alongside silver in the men’s 200m. He shared insight into the preparation behind those performances and the challenge of maintaining his form throughout a busy summer of racing.

The conversation also explored Zharnel’s journey into athletics, including the moment he first realised he had the potential to become a successful sprinter while growing up in Anguilla. He recalled his early experiences of competing at home before moving to Jamaica as a teenager to continue his development.
